-
Skin helps us to protect from germs but some times it can be infected by:
- Bacterial: Cellulitis, impetigo.
- Viral: Warts, Herpes Simplex.
- Fungal: Athlete's foot and yeast infection.
- Cellulitis
-
It is a bacterial infection which causes infection and inflammation.
The skin tissues in the infected area become red, hot and irritated and painful.
- Impetigo
-
It is similar to cellulitis but it only involves the top layer of the skin. A single or many blisters filled with pus appear. When broken leave a reddish raw looking base.
- Warts
-
Warts are small, painless growths on the skin. The typical wart is an oval raised growth on the skin with rough surface as compared with the surrounding normal skin.
- Athletes foot
-
It is a common infection. Symptoms include itching, burning and cracked scaly skin between the toes.
In all above skin infections and others the main cause is vitiation of Tridosha i.e. vata (Air) Pita (Agni/fire) Kapha(water) in our body and when these mixed with Raktadhatus(blood tissue) then they produce imbalance in the body resulting in the skin infection.
In all the above skin infections. Mahamanjistha Kwath given with Kaishore Guggulu and Kanchnara Guggulu gives good results.
- Leprosy
-
It is not very contagious (difficult to transmit) and has a long incubation period. All forms of this disease causes sense loss in the skin and muscles weakness.
- According to Charak Vitiation of Vata (Air), Pita (Agni/fire) Kapha(water) with Raktadhatu (Blood Tissue), Mansadhatu (Muscular tissues) Medhadhatu (Adipose tissues) together causes Leprosy.
- According to Sushrata vitiated vata (Air), Pita (Agni/fire), Kapha(water) firstly produce symptoms in skin latter they affect the Nutritional tissues and together cause leprosy.

- Numbness
-
Numbness and tingling are abnormal sensational disturbances that can occur any where in the body. But are often felt in fingers, hands, feet, arms or legs.
- Obesity
-
This term is used to describe body weight that is much greater than what is healthy.
The main cause of obesity is also thyroid and endocrine problems.
In Ayurveda 'charak' has described eight nindya Prakrities (undesirable constitution). Among them he also mentioned obesity. Obesity is described as 'Meda Roga' in Ayurveda.
The over weight problem can be due to an actual increase in the fat component (Meda dhatu) or it can be due to malfunctioning.
Body is made of 7 dhatus (Rasa Lymph), Rakta (Blood), Maans (muscles), meda (fat), Asthi (Bones), Majja (nervous system), Shukra dhatu (Reproductive system).
But in obese fellow meda (fat) is excessively nourished and remaining other dhatus(tissue) get malnourished. Kapha(water) gets accumulated in between when kapha(water) increases in abnormal fashion, fat metabolism gets hampered and person becomes obese.
Role of medicine with dietary correction is to remove obstructed Kapha(water) and let all the dhatus nourish equally. It is not only the quantity of food that is important but also the type of food one eats. It is not always necessary to go on a restricted diet but qualitative changes and food habits can bring remarkable changes.
The Ayurvedic approach to drugs in general is quite different from what we have been used to. Herbal supplements can be of great benefit in weight control without side effects.
With the diet therapy alone the treatment of obesity is incomplete. Diet can avoid the further possibilities of obesity but the fat has to be treated and defective metabolism must be corrected which is done by Ayurvedic Herbal medicines. Once a Person's metabolism is correct it is easy for him to maintain his weight.
